Colorado High School Mountain Bike League Race #1
Nearly 200 high school athletes from 17 teams converged at Nathrop, Co for the first of four races in the inaugural Colorado High School Mountain Bike race series. Colorado Rocky Mountain School took eight athletes to race the dry and sandy seven mile loop and brought home some hardware in three different categories. Several of the student-athletes raced in their first competitive endurance events and the seasoned racers teed up against some of the best junior racers in the country. Male and Female racers were divided into Varsity, Junior Varsity, Sophomore, and Freshman categories with.
Luke Falcone finished third in the Varsity boys while Gus Griffin finished a respectable sixth. Kelsey Bohanon finished third in the Junior Varsity women a mere two and a half weeks into her mountain biking career. James Lipe finished second in the Junior Varsity men (he will race varsity for the rest of the season) while Robert Weinhold finished twenty first with a plugged ear canal. In the sophomore race Tom Bender finished twenty third. In the freshman category Henry Maxwell finished ninth and Riley Ames finished seventeenth.

chalk creek race report
CRMS killed it at the Chalk Creek Stampede. Cat Koates won the junior Cat 3 women and beat most of the senior women. Luke Falcone got second in the Cat 2 men, Gus Griffin 5th, James Lipe 6th in his first Cat 2 race, and I forget where Robert Weinhold ended up. Everyone is pretty whooped from the day but good racing had by all.
